Hans-Joachim Ursinus

Hans-Joachim Ursinus (born January 21, 1945 in Meissen ) is a former German handball player and coach.

From 1963 to 1974 Ursinus was a player of the DHfK Leipzig with their first team, he won the European Cup in 1966 . At the end of the 1973/74 season he ended his playing career and switched to the post of head coach of the first division handball players at BSG Motor Eisenach , from whose handball department the ThSV Eisenach emerged on June 11, 1990 , as the successor to Werner Assmann . Under Ursinus, the BSG made it into the finals for the FDGB Cup and the ThSV qualified for the two-track handball Bundesliga after the reunification of Germany .

After 18 years Ursinus left Eisenach and was coach of VfL Günzburg (1992/93 season) and then MT Melsungen (1993/94 season). Between 1994 and 2002 he acted several times as head coach handball of SG Werratal 92 . In July 2002 he became the head coach of the northern second division HSG Niestetal / Staufenberg and stayed there until spring 2006. In November 2006 Ursinus was brought back to ThSV Eisenach when the club was threatened with relegation to the third-class handball regional league . He managed to keep the ThSV in the 2nd Bundesliga , his second engagement in Eisenach ended in November 2008. Until spring 2009 he briefly took over the coaching position at the regional league team HSV Bad Blankenburg , in 2013 he was at HSG Eitra / Oberhaun in the Hessian national league Trainer. From summer 2016 to the beginning of 2017 Ursinus was the sporting director at the Sonneberger AGM .

Ursinus is a qualified sports teacher and holds the Trainer A license . After the end of his coaching career, he became managing director of a player agency.
