Hans-Joachim Widmann

Hans-Joachim Widmann (born April 22, 1934 - † January 20, 2016 ) was a German lawyer and politician of the FDP .

Life

Hans-Joachim Widmann had two doctorates in law and philosophy. The legal doctorate at the University of Hamburg took place in 1965; the philosophical one about "Ludwig Feuerbach's moral philosophy" at the same university in 1979. Widmann was managing director of the Hamburg Undertaker Guild and author of the standard work "The Funeral Contract" and the key novel "Party arrogance - the FDP case".

politics

Widmann, who had been a member of the FDP since 1964, was district chairman in the Wandsbek district from 1969 to 1974 and from 1981 to 1986, and from 1970 to 1978 and from 1986 to 1993 member of the district assembly there, temporarily as chairman of the FDP parliamentary group. In 1995/96 he was chairman of the FDP regional association in Hamburg . His proposal to levy a tax on the "income" of beggars led to his resignation as party leader after protests from his own party.
