Hans-Peter Schultze

Hans-Peter Schultze (born August 13, 1937 in Swinoujscie ) is a German vertebrate paleontologist.

Life

Schultze studied after graduating from high school in 1956 in Offenburg geology at the Albert-Ludwigs-University of Freiburg and the University of Tübingen , where he earned his diploma in 1962 as a geologist and 1965 as a student of Walter Robert Gross doctorate was. As a post-doctoral student he was at the Natural History Museum in Stockholm and from 1967 he was a lecturer and from 1971 associate professor in paleontology at the University of Göttingen. In 1970/71 he was from the German Academic Exchange Service at the American Museum of Natural History in New York and at the Field Museum of Natural History in Chicago. From 1978 he was first assistant professor and from 1987 professor at the Museum of Natural History at the University of Kansas . From 1994 until his retirement in 2004, Schultze was Professor of Paleozoology and Director of the Museum of Natural History ( Humboldt University Berlin).

Research priorities

He is mainly concerned with the morphology and evolution of fossil fish and early terrestrial vertebrates. He has done extensive work on the large group systematics v. a. composed by bony fish.
