Hans-Ulrich von Mende (born December 8, 1943 in Tarnowitz ) is a German architect , illustrator and journalist for design and architecture .

Career

Von Mende studied architecture from 1964 to 1973 at the Technical University of Darmstadt and graduated with a degree in engineering. from. From 1972 to 1989 he worked for the architects Braun & Schlockermann und Partner and was there a. a. involved in the reconstruction of the Alte Oper in Frankfurt am Main .

From 1990 to 2011 von Mende was co-owner of the architecture office NHT & Partner in Frankfurt am Main.

As part of his freelance work, he had a. a. the following own construction projects:

Hans-Ulrich von Mende wrote from 1966 to 1971 for the Italian car magazine Motor , from 1982 to 1989 for mot from Stuttgart . He has been writing for the Frankfurter Allgemeine Zeitung since 1976, for the Autobild since 2007 and for the Süddeutsche Zeitung since 2012 . He appears publicly as an architecture and design expert.

He is a member of the Association of German Architects , the Deutscher Werkbund Hessen, the German Designer Club, the Association of Friends of the Architecture Department of the TU Darmstadt eV, the association trax eV and a member of the supervisory board of the NRW pension fund. He was also a jury member at the 2011 Autobild Design Summit and the 2008 Visual Music Award from the Institute for New Media, and from 2000 to 2010 he was a member of the City Development Council of Frankfurt am Main.
