Hans-Werner Heine (born May 31, 1951 ; † July 3, 1999 ) was a football goalkeeper at 1. FC Magdeburg , for whom he played in the Oberliga , the top division of GDR football. With the Magdeburgers he won the GDR soccer championship in 1972.

Athletic career

Heine started at BSG Motor Wernigerode and then played until he was 20 years old with BSG Lok / Vorwärts Halberstadt , which was promoted to the second-class GDR league in 1971. In November 1971, the trained machine fitter moved to the region’s soccer focus, 1. FC Magdeburg. There he was first used in the 2nd team, which was also represented in the GDR league. He never became a regular player because at that time the FCM was firmly established in goal with Ulrich Schulze, who was part of the national team . During Heine's active time, Magdeburg were three times champions, once cup winners and were European cup winners, but Heine was only directly involved in the 1972 championship, because that season he was in five league games in the Magdeburg goal. When he won the cup, he was only a reservist without a commitment in the finals, in the 1974 European Cup final he even had to be dropped from the squad at short notice due to an illness.

The 1.86 m tall Heine played his first competitive game in the first division team of 1. FC Magdeburg in the first knockout round of the GDR soccer cup at 1. FC Union Berlin on February 5, 1972 (3-1 win). For his first of a total of only twelve league games he came in the match 1. FC Magdeburg - Stahl Riesa (1: 0) on March 18, 1972. He was used twice in games for the European Cup, on September 17 and 1 October 1975 in the first round matches in the national championship against Malmö FF (1: 2 and 2: 1 n.V., penalty shoot-out 1: 2). In total, Heine played 19 competitive games with the league team, in addition to the championship and European cup games, five games in the GDR soccer cup competition. The last competitive game Heine with the 1st team of the FCM was the European Cup game on October 1, 1975. Then he was used at irregular intervals in four GDR league games of the 2nd team. Before the league game FCM - Hansa Rostock on September 10, 1976, Heine was finally adopted as an FCM player.

Hans-Werner Heine died in 1999 at the age of only 48. The available sources are silent about the cause of death, in the book 1. FC Magdeburg - Mein Club (Malli / Laube) there is only talk of an early death.
