Hans Altherr

Hans Altherr (born April 29, 1950 in St. Gallen ) is a Swiss politician ( FDP ).

biography

Altherr studied law at the universities of Geneva and Zurich and then worked as an independent lawyer and youth lawyer for the canton of Appenzell Ausserrhoden . From 1976 to 1993 he was a local councilor in Trogen and from 1989 to 1998 a cantonal councilor . From 1998 to 2005 he served as Councilor from 2000 to 2003 as a bailiff .

In 2004 he was elected to the Council of States . There he is on the Finance Commission, the Social Security and Health Commission, President of the Security Commission, the Finance Delegation, the Drafting Commission and the delegation to the Parliamentary Assembly of the North Atlantic Defense Alliance . In 2011/12 Altherr was President of the Council of States , followed in 2012/2013 by Filippo Lombardi .

During his presidency, Altherr had two flags set up in the Chamber of States, a Swiss flag and a flag from his canton of Appenzell Ausserrhoden. He established a tradition that was carried on by his successors.

As an entrepreneur is Altherr owner of Weiss AG, a diamond - and CBN - tools Manufacturer of Walzenhausen . He is divorced and has three children.
