Hans Bernhard Beus

Hans Bernhard Beus (* 1949 in Hamm ) is a German lawyer. From December 10, 2007 to February 4, 2010, he was the Federal Government Commissioner for Information Technology . From 2008 to February 2010 he was State Secretary in the Federal Ministry of the Interior (BMI). From February 2010 to the end of 2013 he was State Secretary in the Federal Ministry of Finance (BMF).

education and profession

He studied law in Marburg and Tübingen . He completed his doctorate in 1977 at the Westphalian Wilhelms University in Münster with the title “Legal Problems in the Design of Spatial Planning and Regional Planning as Development Planning” . From 1977 he worked in the financial administration of the state of North Rhine-Westphalia , from 1979 as a consultant in the Federal Ministry of the Interior. He stayed here until 2004 and rose to head of department. From 2004 to 2006 he worked as a department head in the Office of the Federal President , after which he returned for a short time as State Secretary to the Federal Ministry of the Interior, before moving to the pregnancy representation as State Secretary in the Federal Chancellery in 2007 . In 2008 Beus moved back to the BMI. There he was responsible for questions of principle, Europe and international developments, the civil service, administrative modernization, sport, state, constitutional and administrative law. In his role as Federal Government Commissioner for Information Technology (appointed at the 2nd National IT Summit ), Beus chaired the Federal IT Steering Group and the Council of IT Commissioners of the Federal Ministries. At the personal request of Federal Minister Wolfgang Schäuble , Beus moved from the BMI to the BMF in February 2010, where, as State Secretary, he was responsible for the central and tax departments as well as the privatizations, participations and federal real estate department. He was also a member of the supervisory boards of Deutsche Bahn AG and Deutsche Telekom AG . Johannes Geismann was his successor in the BMF .
