Hans Christian Müller (born November 26, 1921 in Berlin ; † August 9, 2010 in Itzehoe ) was a German architect and urban planner .

Life

After completing his studies at the University of the Arts in 1950 , he initially worked as a freelance architect in Berlin until 1967. From 1967 to 1982 he held the office of Senate Building Director in what was then West Berlin . He procured the still unknown Jürgen Sawade to build the Pallasseum in Berlin-Schöneberg, an extensive new building complex.

During his tenure in 1977 he initiated the International Building Exhibition in Berlin , which was scheduled for 1984. In the 1970s, criticism of the area renovation increased, which created space for new buildings regardless of the existing building structures, but more differentiated concepts were still associated with an almost complete demolition of the existing building fabric. Müller also promoted the appointment of the new building architect Kleihues as IBA managing director.

Müller was a member of the Berlin Academy of the Arts .
