Hans Christoph von Poigk (* 1696 ; † January 5, 1779 in Dresden ) was an electoral Saxon chamber and mountain ridge and most recently chamber president and mountain room director , governor of Augustusburg in the Ore Mountains , district tax collector, member of the state parliament and manor owner .

Life

He came from the noble family Poigk (formerly from Pogk and the like) and started an administrative career in the service of the Saxon electors. He gained practical experience in administration as governor in Augustusburg in the Erzgebirge district . Most recently the chamber president was at the Dresden court. He took over this office in 1763 after Count Heinrich von Brühl was deposed . As a representative of the Leipziger Kreis , he took part in Saxon state parliaments.

On February 3, 1768, he acquired the Zimmermannsche Haus in Dresden, which later became the “Stadt Rom” hotel , which he had restored. The building became famous, among other things, because Karl Marx later lived there.

Hans Christoph von Poigtk owned the manors Ringethal and Crossen near Rochlitz in the Electorate of Saxony . He had inherited Ringethal from his uncle. In Ringethal, the manor there was converted into a late baroque palace in 1742 under his direction. Since then it has consisted of two upper floors and a mansard roof.

He was married to Friederica Christiana, née von Wehlen, daughter of the manorial estate owner Johann Georg von Wehlen from Martinskirchen. Both had only one child who survived him. Sophia Erdmutha von Flemming († December 10, 1793 in Dresden), married to Christoph Friedrich von Flemming, took over her father's property and his manor. He was buried in the Frauenkirche (Dresden) . His son Hans Georg von Poigk, born in 1722, who had become chancellor at the Dresden court, died several years before him on May 17, 1767.
