Hans Georg Prager

Hans Georg Prager (born July 3, 1925 in Leipzig ; † March 12, 2018 ) was a German shipping consultant (advisor, legal advisor), writer and publicist .

Career

He acquired his extensive knowledge through training in the navy and merchant shipping, during which he sailed all the world's oceans for nine years, including one year on a sailing ship. During the Second World War, Prager was a crew member on the heavy cruiser Lützow for a year .

From 1973 to 1985 he was the editor of Koehler's fleet calendar, which is published annually.

In 1981 he saved the Stettin steam icebreaker from being scrapped by founding a support association for the preservation of this technical cultural monument.

The list of his publications in the fields of technology, shipping and aviation is extensive. This also includes many reports in magazines and yearbooks. His description Everything is hanging on a rope appeared in Reader 65 for Realschulen. 5th / 6th Class (Hanover 1967, Hermann Schroedel Verlag, pp. 252f.). Even in old age, Prager occasionally gave lectures on nautical subjects.
