Hans Gresmann
Hans Gresmann (born April 25, 1928 in Hamburg ; † October 16, 2006 in Albufeira , Portugal ) was a German newspaper and radio journalist .
Life
Gresmann studied history , psychology and political science in Hamburg and Seattle . In 1957 he became an editor in the politics department of the weekly newspaper Die Zeit and was promoted by the then deputy editor-in-chief Marion Gräfin Dönhoff . He is credited with inventing the nickname "King Silver Tongue" for Chancellor Kurt Georg Kiesinger . In 1963 he organized a reading tour of the Soviet writer Yevgeny Yevtushenko through the Federal Republic. From 1965 he also worked as a commentator on ARD television .
At the beginning of 1970, Gresmann became the first boss of the ZEITmagazin supplement. The publisher Gerd Bucerius was so annoyed about the first issue of October 2 that he replaced Gresmann with her predecessor Josef Müller-Marein , who had meanwhile advanced to become editor-in-chief . Shortly afterwards, Gresmann received the Theodor Wolff Prize .
Instead of returning to the political editorial team as offered by Bucerius, Gresmann left the time and switched to Südwestfunk (SWF) in 1971 . At first he worked for the political magazine Report Baden-Baden , in 1973 he became head of politics and deputy head of the television editorial department, and in 1981 he became its editor-in-chief. In 1984/85 he co-hosted the SWF for the ARD talk show Moment mal .
From 1986 to 1990 Gresmann was a correspondent for SWF radio and Deutschlandfunk in the ARD studio in Washington . From 1990 he worked as a freelance journalist . In the same year he was awarded the Federal Cross of Merit, 1st class, for his services to German-American relations .
