Hans Haferkamp (born September 15, 1939 in Mülheim an der Ruhr , † July 14, 1987 near Sandstedt ) was a German sociologist .

Live and act

After studying at a technical college in Bochum , Hans Haferkamp worked as a social worker in juvenile justice and probation services. From 1965 he studied sociology , social pedagogy , economics and statistics in Münster (graduate sociologist). He then worked as an assistant at the sociological faculty at Bielefeld University . In 1972 Haferkamp received his doctorate with a theoretical thesis on the sociological theory of action . Since 1974 he has been professor of sociology at the University of Bremen .

The focus of Hans Haferkamp's work was the analysis of deviance and social control. He introduced the theory of action into criminal sociology, while at the same time striving to further develop this same sociological theory of action. With the advent of interactionist criminal sociology (to which he was initially close) and his untimely death, the reception of his work was interrupted early. In the 1970s, his work had received considerable social science response.
