Hans Hartwigk (born February 10, 1904 in Cuxhaven , † September 18, 1991 in Berlin ) was a German veterinarian .

Life

Family and education

The Evangelical baptized, Cuxhaven-born Hans Hartwigk, son of the District Court Director Dr. jur. Hermann Hartwigk and his spouse Anna Pehrsson was born, turned to the High School studying veterinary medicine at the University of Veterinary Medicine Hannover , the Ludwig Maximilian University of Munich and the University of Leipzig to where it 1928 Dr. med. vet. received his doctorate .

Hans Hartwigk married Anneliese Wildenhahn in 1939. The daughters Malena, Gisela and Annette came from this connection. He died in autumn 1991 at the age of 87.

In 1929 Hartwigk got a job as a scientific assistant at the Bacteriological Institute of the Chamber of Agriculture for the Province of Saxony in Halle an der Saale , in 1937 he switched to the position of head of the milk department at the Württemberg State Veterinary Investigation Office in Stuttgart , where he left in 1939. As a result, he headed various veterinary examination centers.

In 1945 Hans Hartwigk was appointed acting head of the animal health department in Halle, a position that he resigned in 1950. In the same year Hartwigk followed a call to a full professorship in veterinary hygiene at the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine at the Free University of Berlin . In addition, he took over the management of the Institute for Veterinary Hygiene. Hartwigk, co-founder of veterinary medicine at the Free University of Berlin, focused his research on animal infectious diseases, including listeriosis , leptospiroses , mycoplasmoses , mycobacterioses and anaerobic infections .
