Hans Hausrath

Hans Hausrath (born October 5, 1866 in Karlsruhe , † August 29, 1945 in Freiburg im Breisgau ) was a German forest scientist. He emerged mainly with studies in forest history and was an important silvicultural historian.

Life

Hausrath studied forest sciences at the Ludwig Maximilians University in Munich , where Karl Gayer was one of his teachers. In 1888 he was reciprocated in the Corps Hubertia Freiburg (xx, xxx). In 1891 he was promoted to Dr. oec. publ. PhD. Then he went to the State Forestry School Karlsruhe, which belonged to the Technical University of Karlsruhe . He completed his habilitation in 1895 and became a private lecturer in 1896 . Associate professor since 1898 , in 1904 he was appointed full professor for forest policy and forest statics . During the First World War he was rector of the technical university in 1917/18 . In 1920 the TH Karlsruhe and the Eberhard Karls University of Tübingen merged the forestry university courses in Freiburg. Hausrath was given a chair at the Albert Ludwig University of Freiburg , which he held until his retirement in 1934. He devoted himself to forest history , especially of the Black Forest and Odenwald . Only long after his death did one of his main works, the history of German silviculture, appear. From its beginnings to 1850 . Part of his academic legacy is kept at the University of Freiburg.
