Hans Heribert Blättgen (born January 13, 1956 in Mülheim an der Ruhr ) is a German politician ( SPD ). From 2002 to 2018 he was Lord Mayor of the large district town of Bad Rappenau in the Heilbronn district . From February 2015 to spring 2016 he was a member of the state parliament of Baden-Württemberg .

biography

Blättgen graduated from high school in 1976. He then did his military service in a military police training company . From 1977 to 1982 he studied German and sports for teaching at the Rheinisch-Westfälische Technische Hochschule Aachen . After the 1st state examination in 1982 he worked for a year at the Deutsche Bundespost, then until 1985 trainee lawyer at a vocational school in Paderborn . After the 2nd state examination in 1985, he moved to the Mülheim an der Ruhr city administration, where he was most recently head of the employment promotion and qualification department and head of the regional secretariat. From 1988 to 1990 he attended an administration course for municipal employees.

In 2001, Blättgen was elected mayor of Bad Rappenau as the successor to Gerd Zimmermann . He took office on January 1, 2002. With the elevation of the city of Bad Rappenau to a major district town on January 1, 2003, Blättgen received the official title of Lord Mayor . In November 2009 he was re-elected.

2004, 2009 and 2014 was Blättgen for the SPD, which he belongs since 1985, the council elected the district Heilbronn. In the state elections in Baden-Württemberg in 2006 , Blättgen ran for the SPD in the Eppingen state electoral district as a substitute for Ingo Rust . For the state elections in 2011 , the SPD nominated him again as Rust's replacement candidate in the same constituency. After Rust's departure, Blättgen moved up to the state parliament of Baden-Württemberg on February 1, 2015, but continues to hold office as Lord Mayor. In the state elections in 2016 , he ran as the first candidate in the constituency of Eppingen, but was not elected. If he had been elected to the state parliament, he would have had to give up the office of mayor.

Blättgen did not run again for the mayor election in November 2017. His term of office ended on January 31, 2018.

Blättgen is married and has five children.
