Hans Hess (Manager)

Hans Hess (* 1955 ) is a Swiss engineer , manager and management consultant . He is President of Swissmem and Vice President of Economiesuisse .

Life

Hess studied materials engineering at the ETH Zurich (Dipl. Ing.). He also earned an MBA from the University of Southern California and completed the Stanford Executive Program at Stanford University .

From 1981 to 1983 he worked as a development engineer at Sulzer AG . He then worked as a division manager for polyurethanes for Huber + Suhner . From 1989 to 1993 he was Vice President of the Leica Microscopy Group. In 1993 he became President of the Leica Optronics Group. From 1996 to 2005 he was Delegate of the Board of Directors and CEO of Leica Geosystems AG . Since 2006 he has been the owner of the management consultancy Hanesco AG. He is also Chairman of the Board of Directors of Reichle & De-Massari and Vice-Chairman of the Board of Directors of dormakaba Holding AG . From 2007 to 2019 he was also Chairman of the Board of Directors of Comet Holding and from 2006 to 2011 Chairman of the Board of Directors and then until 2019 Vice President of Burckhardt Compression Holding .

In the Swiss Army he holds the rank of Colonel i Gst retired.

As President of Swissmem and Vice-President of Economiesuisse, Hess advocates free trade, a deep regulatory density for industry and the conclusion of the framework agreement between Switzerland and the EU, which allowed the bilateral agreements to be continuously adjusted .
