The Reichle & De-Massari Holding AG (short R & M) is a group of companies globally active in information and communication technology based in Wetzikon , Switzerland. The family company develops and produces connection technology for communication networks such as fiber optic distributors, patch panels and computer connection modules .

history

As employees of a supplier to the then Swiss Telecom PTT, Hans Reichle and Renato De-Massari had the idea for a new and easier-to-install telephone socket. They then founded R&M as a two-man business in 1964 to develop and manufacture the so-called Reichle connector . In the following years, the company expanded its range of services to include all connection technology for data and voice networks based on copper cables and optical fibers ( glass and polymer fibers).

One of the company's most important products is the Category 6 _A connection module * for Ethernet networks with RJ45 connectors. It is used in large numbers in local networks (LAN) worldwide. The success of the RJ45 connection modules for twisted pair copper cabling was due, among other things, to a sales partnership with IBM (1993–1999).

In 1993, R&M opened the first Eastern European branch in Poland. Before Renato De-Massari's death in 2000, his partner Hans Reichle took over the company entirely in 1996. In the following years, R&M accelerated international expansion with the establishment of subsidiaries in Ukraine, Malaysia and Brazil.

In 2005 Hans Reichle retired to the Board of Directors and transferred operational responsibility to his two sons Martin and Peter, who ran the company as CEO and COO . This was followed in 2006 by setting up our own sales branch and production in India.

In September 2008, the first management and logistics hub for the Asia-Pacific region was set up in Singapore. A subsidiary for product development and sales had existed there since 1994. In 2009, another hub was set up in the United Arab Emirates (VAR). In 2010, a new company headquarters was built in Wetzikon with the R&M Cube according to low-exergy guidelines.

Since September 1, 2012, Michel Riva has been hired as CEO for the first time. Martin and Peter Reichle are still members of the six-person board of directors and represent the interests of the owner family in their function.

In July 2012, R&M opened a branch in the Dubai Freezone, where products for the Middle East / Africa (MEA) and Asia regions are assembled. In October 2012, another fiber optic production facility was put into operation in Sofia , Bulgaria. In the same year, the company opened a Saudi Arabia office in Riyadh to pursue regional expansion plans and provide local customer service. In 2014 the company celebrated its 50th anniversary.

In February 2016, R&M took over the fiber optics specialist REALM Communications Group Inc. , based in Milpitas , California, in order to have its own production and sales subsidiary in the USA. In April 2017, R&M acquired the Brazilian company group Peltier Comércio e Industria LTDA (PETCOM) based in Santa Rita do Sapucaí in order to gain a foothold in the South American fiber optics market. A production plant is part of the group.

Transportkabel DIXI as , based in Děčín , Czech Republic, was taken over in May 2018 and transferred to Reichle & De-Massari Czech Republic as in August 2018. With this takeover, R&M produces its own fiber optic cables for the first time. In addition, R&M opened a new production building for fiber optic products in Bangalore , India, in August 2018 . The production facility was built as part of the Make in India initiative . The Indian government is pursuing the goal of creating sustainable competitiveness and prosperity.

Another expansion in the USA took place in March 2019 with the takeover of Optimum Fiberoptics Inc. , based in Elkridge, Maryland. The market in the east of the USA is processed from here. The group has brought together all production and sales activities in North America under the name R&M USA Inc.

In March 2019, R&M acquired the Chinese manufacturer of network cabinets and housings for data centers Durack Intelligent Electric Co. Ltd. based in Jinshan District, Shanghai . This acquisition gives R&M the opportunity to gain an even better foothold in the Chinese market.

Companies

R&M develops, produces and sells components and systems for communication and data networks. R&M is a non-listed stock corporation owned by the Reichle family and is therefore independent of financial investors.

R&M has products for copper cabling mainly manufactured in its own production facility in Poland. R&M mainly has multifiber connectors ( fiber optic connectors ) and other products for fiber optic cabling assembled in its plants in Wetzikon, Sofia and Bangalore.

the R & MinteliPhy hardware and software system for automated real-time monitoring of cables, ports and plug connections in computer networks
the SYNO hood sleeve with gel cold seal for underground fiber optic distribution in public telecommunications networks
the Cat. 8/1 cabling system for the fastest data transmission over twisted-pair copper cable in local area networks (40 Gigabit Ethernet)

Important technological developments that R&M has influenced include:

Sensor technology for automated infrastructure management (AIM) for centralized, digitized monitoring of cables, ports and plug connections

Push-pull mechanism for axial, rear-side operation of tightly packed plugs

IDC also Insulation Displacement Connector (IDC), a durable Beschaltungstechnik for copper wires

Fiber optic connector format SC-RJ as the smallest SC duplex connector

WAve Reduction Patterns (WARP) as non-continuous shielding for unshielded cabling components , whereby the shielding is achieved by means of short, mutually isolated shielding surfaces (patterns)

R&M is regularly involved in international standardization committees in industry and cooperates with other manufacturers in the development of new cabling technologies. Among other things, R&M is participating in the development of the Single Pair Ethernet (SPE) standard together with Harting .

R&M has subsidiaries in Australia , Brazil , Bulgaria , China , Germany , Dubai , France , India , Italy , the Netherlands , Poland , Singapore , Spain , Ukraine , Hungary and the USA . The company is represented by sales partners in other countries. R&M is strongly export-oriented and generates around 78 percent of its sales outside of Switzerland.

Since 2010, R&M has published a corporate social responsibility report every two years in accordance with the guidelines of the GRI ( Global Reporting Initiative ). The CSR report documents the sense of responsibility and sustainability of corporate management.
