history

The company was founded as "Wilhelm Harting Mechanische Werkstätten" on September 1, 1945 by Wilhelm Harting and his wife Marie in the Dankersen district of the East Westphalian city ​​of Minden in North Rhine-Westphalia . In 1950 the company moved to neighboring Espelkamp . After Wilhelm Harting's death in 1962, his wife Marie Harting († 1989) took over the management of the company, together with their sons Dietmar Harting and Jürgen Harting († 1973) since 1967 and 1969 respectively . In 1987 Dietmar Harting's wife Margrit Harting joined the management. In October 2015 Dietmar Harting handed over the chairmanship to his son Philip Harting.

In the early post-war years, the company initially manufactured household items such as hotplates, iron and waffle irons, energy-saving lamps and fire lighters.
