Hans Hulverscheidt

Hans Hulverscheidt (born December 14, 1908 , † November 29, 1988 ) was a German choir director , university professor and organologist .

Life

Hulverscheidt studied church music at the Cologne University of Music . During his studies he was already working as an organist and choirmaster in Eupen . From 1941 to 1946 he headed the choir of the Cologne Bach Society and from July 1942 to the bombing night in Barmer on May 30, 1943 he was the choirmaster of the Bach Society in Wuppertal, the predecessor choir of the Wupperfelder Kantorei , and organist at the Old Church in Wupperfeld . In 1947 he became a lecturer in choir conducting and organ building . In 1956 he reorganized the Aachen Bach Society , which he headed until 1974. From 1973 he taught organ and bells, ear training and score playing as a professor at the Cologne University of Music, one of his students was the church musician Winfried Pesch . He also worked as an organ expert and organologist.

For his achievements he was awarded the title of church music director .
