Renée Stobrawa

Renée Stobrawa (born October 13, 1897 in Dresden , † August 16, 1971 in Tegernsee ; born Renate Stobrawa ) was a German actress and screenwriter .

life and work

After completing secondary school, Stobrawa took acting lessons from Louise Dumont and received her first engagement in 1919 at the Düsseldorfer Schauspielhaus . She then performed in Frankfurt am Main and came to Berlin in 1925.

Here she played at the Kroll Opera and from 1934 at the Volksbühne . She also slowly found access to the world of film. Since the mid-1930s, she has appeared regularly in front of the camera in small to medium-sized roles. With her husband Fritz Genschow she founded a fairy tale theater in Berlin in 1930, which she also directed.

In addition, she continued to play in classical theaters and celebrated a success at the Schlossparktheater in 1947 as Mrs. John in the play The Rats . At the cinema in the 1950s she was seen in fairy tale films that Genschow produced and for which she also co-wrote the script.
