Hans Joachim Haltmeyer (also Hans Joachim Haltmayer ) (born December 4, 1614 in St. Gallen ; † May 26, 1687 ibid) was a pharmacist and mayor of St. Gallen ( Switzerland ).

Life

Haltmeyer was the eldest child of Marx Haltmeyer (* September 23, 1588; † September 21, 1635), pharmacist and guild master of the tailors, and his wife Elisabeth (* June 22, 1592; † November 2, 1635), daughter of Melchior Rothmund. He still had eight siblings.

Like his father, he was a pharmacist and from 1654 to 1656 guild master of the tailors' guild. In the period from 1645 to 1680 he was also a honey shower (quality inspector).

From 1648 and 1653 he worked as a city ​​judge and in 1656 he was elected councilor .

Haltmeyer was married to Barbara, daughter of David Locher (1586–1645), Elfer and member of the weavers' guild. Together they had eleven children, of whom their son, Marx Haltmeyer (* 1640 in St. Gallen; † 1702 ibid.), Who also became a pharmacist, published a chronicle of the city of St. Gallen in 1683.
