Hans Joachim "Achim" Werner (born November 12, 1952 in Munich ) is a German journalist and politician ( SPD ). The Bavarian State Parliament he belonged 1998 to 2013 as deputy to. Since 2009 he has been chairman of his party's city council in Ingolstadt .

After graduating from Maria-Theresia-Gymnasium in 1973, he attended the German School of Journalism . Then studied communication science , politics and history from 1978 to 1984 and graduated with a master's degree. He first worked as an editor at Donaukurier , then from 1985 to 1998 as a public relations officer at Audi .

Party and association politics

Werner joined the SPD in 1972. From 1975 to 1978 he was a member of the Untergiesing-Harlaching district committee . In 1984 he was elected to the Ingolstadt City Council for the first time, and in 1995/1996 he was a member of the District Committee West in Ingolstadt. In 1996, 2002 and 2008 he moved back to the city council there, since May 2009 he has been parliamentary group chairman. In 2002, as a candidate for the Ingolstadt mayor's office, he was defeated by the CSU candidate Alfred Lehmann .

In the state elections in 1998 , 2003 and 2008 he was unable to assert himself as a direct candidate, but entered the Bavarian state parliament via the SPD district list of Upper Bavaria and was there for a long time deputy chairman of the petitions committee until he took over its chairmanship in 2008. As a Protestant Christian, he was one of the initiators of the cross-faction prayer breakfast in the state parliament. In the state elections in Bavaria in 2013 , he ran for 13th place on the district list, but missed the return to the Maximilianeum.

Werner is a member of numerous organizations, his particular commitment is to the social association VdK : There he is chairman of the district association Ingolstadt-Eichstätt, chairman of the district committee Upper Bavaria, honorary chairman of the local association Ingolstadt-Nord, member of the regional association board and member of the federal association committee. He is also the chairman of the Brodmühle Ingolstadt Association.

Private

Werner is married and lives in Ingolstadt . His son (* 1981) died in 1986.
