Hans Manz
Hans Manz (born July 16, 1931 in Wila in the Zurich Oberland ; † November 17, 2016 ) was a Swiss teacher , translator and author of children's books .
life and work
Hans Manz, born in 1931 in the Zurich Oberland, aroused interest in the language in his readers with his language game books and poems. His specialty was, among other things, the detection of tell-tale sayings. As a teacher at a primary school in Zurich , he had tried out and improved his own “language tinkering” together with his students.
He has also translated children's books, for example In der Nachtküche and Hector Protector and As I Went Over the Water by Maurice Sendak as well as The Beast of Monsieur Racine and The Sorcerer's Apprentice by Tomi Ungerer . Manz wrote prose and poetry for adults and made children's programs for Swiss television .
Since 1987 he has lived as a freelance writer and journalist in Zurich and Italy.
