Hans Miksch (born June 24, 1846 in Reichenberg ; † May 14, 1904 in Dresden ) was an Austrian architect .

Life

Hans Miksch came from a family of builders in Reichenberg, his father was the town builder Johann Miksch. Details of his training are not known.

He began his work as a house architect with Graf Zichy and then with the Vienna construction company. In 1881, together with Julian Niedzielski (1849–1901), he founded a project planning office in Vienna and won a competition for the Reichenberger Theater. Thanks to his contacts in Northern Bohemia , numerous projects could be realized there, but also in other countries of the Danube Monarchy . When Niedzielski entered civil service in 1896, Miksch continued his planning on his own. The architect died unexpectedly on a business trip to Dresden in 1904 and was buried there too.

Hans Miksch designed his buildings in the style of late historicism . The design office Miksch & Niedzielski also designed buildings in new, modern forms (e.g. in glass-iron constructions). He designed most of the buildings (until 1896) together with Julian Niedzielski.
