Hans Morf

Hans Morf (born December 16, 1896 in Winterthur ; † December 10, 1990 in Bern , reformed , resident in Winterthur and Uster ) was a Swiss lawyer and federal civil servant .

Life

Hans Morf was born on December 16, 1896 in Winterthur as the son of Alfred Morf, who was employed as a foundry master at Sulzer AG Winterthur , and Berta, who was also born Morf. After Morf had passed the Matura at a Winterthur high school in 1915 , he did a banking internship at the Schweizerische Kreditanstalt until 1917 , before he began studying law at the universities of Zurich and Bern , which he obtained in 1922 with the academic degree of Dr. iur. completed. In addition, he was admitted to the Zurich bar in 1924 .

Professional background

Hans Morf was first employed as a court substitute in Horgen from 1922 to 1924 . Subsequently he worked as a lawyer in Freiburg until 1925 , then as a clerk in Horgen until 1928 and finally as a secretary at the Federal Supreme Court until 1934 . He then served as a member of the Supreme Court of the Saar region administered by the League of Nations until 1935 .

From 1935 he ran a law firm in Winterthur. In the same year, he was appointed head of the Federal Office for Intellectual Property, which he held until 1962. During his tenure, the tasks grew steadily as a result of the tremendous upswing in technology. The most urgent deals included the patent, trademark, design, model and copyright law .

Hans Morf married Helena, nee Schuppisser, in 1929. He died on December 10, 1990, six days before he would have turned 94 in Bern.
