Hans Paul Wilhelm Alexander Freiherr von Humboldt-Dachroeden (born March 26, 1857 in Ottmachau , † February 2, 1940 in Wünsdorf ) was a German diplomat.

Life

Hans Paul von Humboldt-Dachroeden was the son of Wilhelm von Humboldt-Dachroeden (1823–1867) (the grandson of the famous scholar and statesman Wilhelm von Humboldt ) and his wife Hermine von Werder (1830–1903). The title of baron applied for by the widow Hermine von Humboldt-Dachroeden and granted by the Kaiser in 1875 made it easier for her son and grandchildren to pursue a higher military and diplomatic career in the late German Empire. Hans Paul von Humboldt Dachroeden studied at the University of Goettingen law . In 1877 he became a member of the Corps Saxonia Göttingen . On July 21, 1885 he married Elsbeth Schmidt († 1953 ). The couple had two daughters and one son.

After passing the assessor examination in 1886 , he embarked on a diplomatic career in the Foreign Office . In 1887 he became vice consul in London , in 1893 consul in Moscow , in 1901 consul in Alexandria , in 1905 consul general in Cape Town and in 1915 deputy consul general in Amsterdam .

From 1920 to 1923 von Humboldt-Dachroeden was the German ambassador in Lima .
