Hans Schicklin

Hans Schicklin (mentioned from 1509 in Basel ; † April 6, 1520 ) was a Swiss cabinet maker and picture carver .

Live and act

Hans Schicklin, from Teufen (Appenzell), became the benefactor of the Charterhouse in Basel in 1509 , after having lived in the monastery for some time. Since the Liber benefactorum of the convent it as valde arteficiosus et subtilis Faber lignarius et omnibus nobis laborando voluntarius fuit describes it be the 1509 begun, with 17 carved medallions provided elaborate paneling in the guest rooms of the Charterhouse, the so-called. Zscheckenbürlin room, and two for Beds (1510/1512) assigned to this room. One of the latter has been preserved (today in the Basel Historical Museum ).
