Hans Schmitt (born February 27, 1946 ) is a former German soccer player . The defender played three league games for TSV 1860 Munich in the Bundesliga in the 1967/68 season and from 1968 to 1973 in the then second -rate regional football league South for the clubs ESV Ingolstadt and Jahn Regensburg a total of 146 regional league games with four goals.

Career

Hans "Jimmy" Schmitt came from the district league Oberbayern Süd of Schwarz-Weiß Munich for the 1967/68 season to the Bundesliga champion of the year 1966, TSV 1860 Munich. Under coach Albert Sing he played three Bundesliga appearances in September 1967: against VfB Stuttgart (3: 3), Werder Bremen (2: 2) and 1. FC Kaiserslautern (0: 3). In his Bundesliga debut on September 9th in the home game against VfB Stuttgart, he underwent an own goal in the 89th minute of the game, which meant the final score of 3: 3. In his third appearance, on September 16, at the home game against Kaiserslautern, the young defender star goalkeeper Petar Radenković jumped on the neck in the 40th minute of the game and choked him because Schmitt had previously allowed himself a defensive carver. He then moved to ESV Ingolstadt and made 25 league appearances at the regional league promoted team in the 1968/69 season under coach Willibald Hahn and alongside teammates such as Josef Bauerschmidt, Herbert Hufsky, Walter Ziegelmeier, Hans Zengerle , Willibald Weiss and Georg Metzger . After a year at ESV, he joined league rivals Jahn Regensburg and achieved the best placement with the Upper Palatinate in the 1970/71 season with 5th place. “Jimmy” Schmitt contributed to the good performance under coach Heinz Elzner in 36 league games (1 goal) alongside teammates like Gerhard Faltermeier and Alfred Kohlhäufl . In the 1976/77 season, the defender Regensburg helped out twice in the 2nd Bundesliga .
