Hans Schultz (veterinarian)

Hans Karl Schultz (born July 30, 1898 in Friedrichsgabe ; † February 5, 1982 in Hanover ) was a German veterinarian and university professor .

Life

Hans Schultz was born as the son of the farm owner and later pensioner in Brokstedt Paul Daniel Schultz. During the First World War he took part as a reserve officer in the Holstein Field Artillery Regiment No. 24 and was awarded the Iron Cross and the Front Fighter Cross of Honor. In the summer semester of 1919 he began studying at the University of Veterinary Medicine in Hanover and became a member of the Corps Normannia Hanover . In the summer semester of 1921 he continued studying veterinary medicine at the University of Giessen . In the winter semester of 1921/22 he switched to the Veterinary University in Berlin . In November 1922 he received his veterinary license in Berlin . In the following month he was awarded a Dr. med. vet. PhD. In 1923 he passed the animal breeding inspectorate exam in Berlin and got a job as a research assistant at the Polyclinic for Large Pets, where he developed the Neumann-Schultz nasogastric tube together with Kurt Neumann-Kleinpaul .

In 1926, Hans Schultz established himself as a practical veterinarian and specialist in large animals in Berlin. After he had passed the district veterinary exam in March 1928, he became a veterinary councilor and district veterinarian for the Naugard district in April 1931 . In October 1939 he was appointed to the government veterinary council in the Konitz and Tuchel districts. In February 1945 he moved to Segeberg as a veterinary councilor . In December 1946 he was appointed to the government veterinary council of the district of Hanover and at the same time to head of the outpatient clinic and lecturer for shoeing at the veterinary college . In August he was appointed honorary professor in Hanover . In April 1948 he became head of the Lower Saxony state training forge in Hanover. In 1968 he retired .

Hans Schultz dealt in particular with shoeing , colic in domestic horses , diseases of young animals and cardiac death in pigs .
