Hans (August) Steinmann , actually: Johannes August Steinmann (born November 23, 1860 in Braunschweig , † August 18, 1929 in Rostock ) was a German farmer and politician ( DNVP ).

Life and work

Hans Steinmann was born on November 23, 1860 as the son of a distiller in Braunschweig. After attending grammar school in Braunschweig, he completed an agricultural apprenticeship from 1876 and then worked as a civil servant on intensively farmed estates in Central Germany . From 1890 he was administrator of the manor Alt Sammit near Krakow am See and later managed the Princely Schaumburg-Lippischen goods Boldebuck and Wilhelminenhof. From 1897 he was tenant of the Lalchow domain near Plau am See .

The economist Steinmann was a board member of the Chamber of Agriculture , the sugar factory in Lübz , the Mecklenburg Genossenschaftsbank in Rostock and the Mecklenburg Herdbook Association for black and white lowland cattle. Hans Steinmann died in Rostock on August 18, 1929.

Hans Steinmann was married to Alwine Luise Heuer .

politics

Steinmann was the official representative of the Lübz office . He joined the German National People's Party (DNVP) and served from July 28, 1920 to January 12, 1921 as Minister of State for Agriculture, Domains and Forests in the government of the Free State of Mecklenburg-Schwerin headed by Prime Minister Hermann Reincke-Bloch . In 1924 he was elected to the Mecklenburg-Schwerin Landtag via the list of the Völkische Arbeitsgemeinschaft (VAG) , to which he belonged until 1926.
