Hans Strasser (doctor)

Hans Strasser (born May 20, 1852 in Lauenen , † April 16, 1927 in Bern ) was a Swiss anatomist .

Life

The son of a pastor attended schools in Langnau im Emmental and Interlaken and the grammar school in Bern. He studied medicine at the Universities of Bern , Würzburg and Breslau and received his doctorate in Bern in 1877. At the Anatomical Institute of the University of Breslau, where he also completed his habilitation in 1879, he worked as an assistant and from 1882 as a prosector . In 1883 he was appointed associate professor at the Albert Ludwig University of Freiburg . Strasser was a full professor of anatomy at the University of Bern from 1887 to 1927 and its rector from 1898 to 1899 . The anatomical institute of the same university was established under his leadership.

In 1926 he was accepted as a corresponding member of the Bavarian Academy of Sciences .

The pastor and poet Gottfried Strasser was his brother.
