Hans von Pechmann
Hans Freiherr von Pechmann (born April 1, 1850 in Nuremberg , † April 19, 1902 in Tübingen ) was a German chemist.
Life
Pechmann studied chemistry at the Ludwig Maximilians University in Munich and was active in the Corps Isaria in 1869 . As an inactive he moved to the Royal University of Greifswald . With a doctoral thesis with Heinrich Limpricht , he was awarded a Dr. phil. PhD . In 1888 he was elected a member of the Leopoldina .
Until 1895 he was a professor in Munich. He then worked at the Eberhard Karls University of Tübingen until 1902 . He maintained a close, friendly and professional relationship with Eduard Buchner . Shortly after his 52nd birthday, Pechmann died as a result of severe nervous disorders through suicide. He was succeeded in 1902 by Wilhelm Wislicenus (1861–1922).
He discovered diazomethane (1894) and polyethylene (1898).
