The Hansa-Brandenburg D was a two-seater, multi-purpose double - decker .
description
Under the direction of Ernst Heinkel, Hansa-Brandenburg developed the Hansa-Brandenburg as one of the first aircraft for use by the air forces of the German Empire , where it was known as BI. It was a conventional double-decker in composite construction. The wings and tail unit were made of wood with fabric covering. The fuselage had a tubular steel frame that was planked with plywood. There were two open cockpits one behind the other in the fuselage. The pilot sat in the back. The aircraft had a rigid tail-tail landing gear. About twelve copies were built in 1914.
