Hansa House (2012)

The Hansa-house in section of the Bebelstraße (12-16) and the new road (19-21) in Herne is under preservation stationary monument . It was built in 1927/1928 based on a design by the architect Karl Veuhoff , who also acted as the client . The expressionist clinker brick building belongs in a row with other residential and commercial buildings that were built at the end of the 1920s in the area of today's city of Herne, including perhaps the most important of them, the Sparkasse Wanne-Eickel or the publishing house of the adjacent Herner Anzeiger (Bebelstraße 18).

description

The three- winged structure consisting of five parts with diverging legs (34 meters to Bebelstrasse and a good 42 meters to Neustrasse) represents a "well-integrated urban solution".

The five- storey residential and commercial building is used exclusively for business purposes on the ground floor, which is faced with limestone and has a larger ceiling height. Risalitartig the central part Bebelstraße 12 is stressed to its sides by the rise brick strips stressed corners pylon-like manner over the other height of the structure. During this part with a flat roof is provided, the adjacent houses Bebelstraße Neustraße 14 and 17 with a combination of flat and pitched roof and the Endhäuser Bebelstraße Neustraße 16 and 19 with a low-pitched gable roof closed at the top. The depth of the individual sections increases evenly from the head; the last axis of the house at Neustraße 19 is used as a courtyard passage on the ground floor. Due to its shorter length with seven axes, the wing on Bebelstraße has two less than that on Neustraße. Viewed from the middle section, the façade on the upper floors is structured by triangular bay windows to emphasize the stairs , to Bebelstraße after three, on Neustraße after four axes. The horizontal lines are given a special character by the limestone slabs placed between the windows on the upper floors. The Hansa-Haus lettering, which could still be read in the 1980s above the third floor on the middle section, has since been removed.

The entry of the Hansa-Haus in the list of monuments of the city of Herne took place on January 13, 1992 (monument no. A 237).
