Happy Landing - The Musical is the fifth musical by Jochen Frank Schmidt . The musical hit takes place in New York in the 1960s . The world premiere was on October 21, 2017 in the Gloria-Theater Bad Säckingen . More than 24,000 visitors attended the musical in 44 performances.

The story takes place in 1965. The setting is John F. Kennedy International Airport - Annie is living the dream of all young American women of the time. She is a stewardess and flies around the world in the latest jets. When she is invited on a flight by multimillionaire Angus J. Foster on a date, her luck seems perfect. But she falls head over heels in love with the luggage carrier Tom and is faced with the decision of her life: money or love.

Special features of the musical
The story taken up in the musical is particularly interesting. The humorous scenes reflect the actual requirements of stewardesses in the 1960s. Women were only allowed to work as stewardesses if they had not exceeded the age of 32. Furthermore, there was a strict regulation regarding the family status of the stewardesses, which ensured that the flight attendants remained single for a long time. These regulations were relaxed in the late 1960s. The airline Pan Am itself is not fictitious either. Pan Am was the first international American airline, founded in 1927. The choice of the venue at John F. Kennedy International Airport is also appropriate .
Another specialty results from some supporting roles. For example, the character of the late rock star James is based on one of the role models of Jochen Frank Schmidt, namely Jimi Hendrix .

The ensemble and the crew of the musical organized a flash mob in the halls of Stuttgart Airport on January 13, 2018 and wished many travelers a good departure and a warm welcome.
“ Das Ding ”, the SWR's youth broadcaster , accompanied Nicolo Alesi in his role as Angus J. Foster during rehearsals. The dancer Evelyn Roth from Schaffhausen in Switzerland has an exclusive interview about Happy Landing in the program "Huts in Gschpröch" of SHF given.
Emil Steinberger was enthusiastic about the musical. The cabaret artist , writer and director from Switzerland visited the show in February 2018.
