Between 1990 and 2007 he served as assistant coach of women's national coach Uwe idleness the German biathlon women and was responsible in the World Cup, especially as a coach for the Thuringian starters. Athletes like Kati Wilhelm , Andrea Henkel and Katrin Apel fell into his field of care . Böse took part in the Olympic Games five times as a supervisor. In these competitions, the athletes he co-sponsored won five gold, nine silver and four bronze medals. After the 2006/2007 season, he resigned from his functions at federal level.

Unofficial employee of the State Security

After the fall of the Wall it became known that Böse had worked as an unofficial employee under the code name “Horst Sommer” for the GDR State Security . To this day, he is criticized for this by his former protégé Andreas Hess . Because of his denunciation, Böse is said to have been decisive in removing Hess from the squad for the 1980 Olympic Winter Games after he reported that he had observed Hess at a meeting with a West German woman. Before the 2006 Winter Olympics in Turin , there was speculation whether bad guys like figure skating coach Ingo Steuer and ski jumping assistant coach Henry Glaß shouldn't be allowed to go to Turin. However, no such measure was taken within the DSV. Evil possible entanglements were also discussed in the television program Monitor .
