Harald Prickler

Harald Prickler (born October 17, 1934 in Lutzmannsburg ; † April 8, 2018 in Eisenstadt ) was a Burgenland historian and archivist .

Life

In 1952, Prickler passed his matriculation examination at the Vienna Bundesrealgymnasium Hagenmüllergasse and studied history and English at the University of Vienna. He received his doctorate in Vienna in 1957 with a dissertation on the history of the Bernstein rule in the Oberwart district . He also trained as a pianist at the Vienna Conservatory . Between 1956 and 1959 he completed the training course at the Institute for Austrian Historical Research . His research focus was the history of the Burgenland-West-Hungarian region. He was soon employed as an archivist at the Burgenland Provincial Archives , where he was promoted to deputy head of department in 1963. In 1994 he was appointed councilor.

Prickler wrote numerous scientific papers on the regional history of his homeland, which he published in the magazines " Burgenland Research ", " Burgenland Homeland Papers " and " Scientific Works from Burgenland ". He worked in the editorial team of the magazines mentioned and was involved as a scientific advisor in various exhibitions, including the Burgenland state exhibition Die Ritter , which took place in 1990 at Güssing Castle . His work for the large exhibition in Klostermarienberg in 1996 about 800 years of Cistercian in the Pannonian region received special recognition .
