history
In 1995 the Swiss grinding machine manufacturer L. Kellenberger was taken over. Other Hardinge brands are Hauser, Tschudin, Jones & Shipman, Usach and Voumard. The subsidiary Forkardt, which was taken over by Illinois Tool Works in 2013, manufactures chucks .
In the high-precision turn-mill business, Hardinge competes with DMG Mori Seiki , Mazak and Okuma . Doosan , Haas and several Taiwanese companies are competitors in the standard business. When it comes to external and internal diameter grinding machines , the main competitor is Studer, as well as Toyoda and Shigiya . The jig grinders Hauser compete with Moore tool that surface grinding machines with Okamoto and Chevalier .
