Hardtkopf (Eifel)

The Hardtkopf in the Eifelkreis Bitburg-Prüm ( Rhineland-Palatinate ) is a mountain in the southern Eifel and at 601.5  m above sea level. NN the highest point on the edge of the Prümer Kalkmulde .

The Hardtkopf rises in the southern part of the Hohes Venn-Eifel nature park south of Prüm and northwest of Schönecken between the villages of Ellwerath (zu Rommersheim ) in the north and Oberlauch in the south. The small Prüm tributary of Hennebach rises to the west of the mountain .

From the Hardtkopf summit you can see the entire Prümer Kalkmulde and Schönecker Schweiz . When the weather is good, you can see as far as the edge of the Hunsrück, about 60 km southeast . Up until the beginning of the 20th century there was a lookout tower on the mountain . There are currently a transmission tower and a water tank .
