Harm Weber

Harm Weber jun. (* May 17, 1928 in Warsingsfehn ; † July 22, 2015 there ) was a German politician ( SPD ). He was a member of the state parliament of Lower Saxony and district administrator in the district of Leer .

Life

Harm Weber was deployed as an air force helper in Wilhelmshaven during World War II . After graduating from high school, he completed a commercial apprenticeship at the Ubbo-Emmius-Gymnasium in Leer . He then worked for many years as a retail salesman. From 1962 to 1976 he was an employee in various insurance and banking companies. He also worked for a time as an honorary administrative judge. He was married and had two children, including the former district administrator of the district of Aurich , Harm-Uwe Weber . On May 16, 2008, one day before his 80th birthday, he was named honorary mayor of the Moormerland community at a ceremony in the town hall .

Political career

Weber had been a member of the SPD since 1948 and a member of the council of the Warsingsfehn community since 1956. From 1969 to 1972 he was mayor of Warsingsfehn, an office that his father Harm Weber sen. held. After Warsingsfehn was absorbed into the newly founded municipality of Moormerland in 1973, he initially became its mayor on an interim basis. In the same year he was elected mayor of the municipality of Moormerland; he held this office until 1991. In the eighth and ninth electoral terms he was a member of the Lower Saxony state parliament from 1974 to 1982 . From 1981 to 1986 he was then district administrator for the district of Leer.
