Harold Robinson "Harry" Humby (born April 8, 1879 in London , † February 23, 1923 there ) was a British marksman .
successes
Harold Humby took part in three Olympic Games . At the Olympic Games in London in 1908 , he took eighth place with the small-bore rifle in the competition for the disappearing target, while in the prone position he achieved second place with 386 points and received the silver medal. In the team competition, in which only three teams competed, the British prevailed against Sweden and France with 771 points and became Olympic champions. In addition to Humby, Maurice Matthews , Edward Amoore and William Pimm belonged to the British team. He was the second best British shooter with 194 points. In 1912 he entered Stockholm in a trap and finished the individual competition in fourth place. In the team competition, the British kept the German team one point at a distance with 511 points and secured the silver medal behind the US team (532 points). This time, Humby was the top scorer of the team with 91 points, which also included Alexander Maunder , William Grosvenor , George Whitaker , Charles Palmer and John Butt . In 1920 he only started again with the trap team in Antwerp and missed another medal win with it in fourth place.
Humby was a captain in the British Army's Middlesex Regiment .
