Harry Marker
William Harry Marker Jr. (born October 7, 1899 in Tipton , Indiana , † October 18, 1990 in New Milford , Connecticut ) was an American film editor .
Life
Marker was one of three sons of William Hardy Marker (1872-1961) and Rebecca Ann Law (1873-1964). From 1918 he worked as an editor in Hollywood for various film studios such as Fox Film Corporation and Universal Pictures . He worked several times under the direction of director William Wyler . From the 1930s it was used almost exclusively in B-films . It was not until 1945 that he was also hired for large-scale productions.
In 1946, Marker received an Oscar nomination for Best Editing for Leo McCarey's drama The Bells of St. Mary, starring Bing Crosby and Ingrid Bergman . From 1959 he was also frequently active for American television.
Marker was married to Mary Louise Taylor (1899-1993) from 1923 and had a son with her (* 1935).
