Harry Rosenthal
Harry Rosenthal (born May 3, 1892 in Posen ; † April 23, 1966 ) was a German architect .
Life
Before the First World War, Harry Rosenthal began studying architecture at the Technical University of Munich with Theodor Fischer . After being seriously injured in the war, he continued this from 1917 at the Technical University (Berlin-) Charlottenburg and completed it in 1919 with the main diploma examination. In the following years he worked in the offices of Hans Poelzig and Bruno Taut . From 1922 he designed, now independently , residential, summer, country and studio houses in Berlin and the surrounding area. His buildings show the exploration of Expressionism , but also testify to his preoccupation with the principles of New Building . After 1933, because of his Jewish faith and the incipient persecution in Germany, Rosenthal emigrated to Palestine, where he was able to continue his work as an architect, but then moved to London in 1939 because he could not stand the climate; there he was largely forgotten.
