Hasendorf was a place in western Styria in the municipality of Köflach in the Voitsberg district . The village went from in the 20th century.

Place name and geography

The name Hasendorf is probably derived from the Old High German personal name Haso , who was probably the first landlord or settlement manager of the village.

Hasendorf was located southwest of Köflach and northwest of Pichling near Köflach , a little west of Packer Straße B 70.

history

The place emerged during the Bavarian settlement of the area as a founding village with a loosely arranged row of homesteads and common land . The first written mention of the place takes place in 1318 when the Free Dietmar von Hasendorf is mentioned, who presumably sat at the Rößlhof.

Until 1848, the inhabitants belonged to the manor of the Lankowitz , Piber and Rehregg dominions . According to Lankowitz, from 1595 two thirds of the tithe went on wheat, grain and geese. At least in the years 1493 and 1563 the rule of Piber raised the big tithe. The parish valid went to Köflach. From 1579 at the latest, the Köflach parish operated a brick factory in the village. The common land in the village was distributed after 1750.

In 1799 Fortunat Spöck opened the St. Balthasar tunnel near the village, in which coal was dug. Due to the emerging coal mining in the area, but also due to the expansion of the Pichling iron works, the population of the place grew strongly after 1814. With the constitution of the free municipalities in 1850, Hasendorf became part of the local free municipality of Pichling and together with it on January 1st, 1952, it became part of the municipality of Köflach. In 1878 the Lankowitzer Kohlenkompagnie built on three field dimensions coal both in Day and in the underground mining from. The coal mined here was brought through the Katharinastollen to Weyern and through the Revierstollen to Köflach. The Hasendorf coal mine was flooded on September 19, 1882 by a flood that flowed through the Revierstollen and thus also reached Köflach. Around 1895, at least 100 heavy and coal-laden wagons drove along Hasendorferstrasse every day.

On January 16, 1902, a fire broke out during a hurricane storm, which spread over the local area and also threatened the neighboring town of Pichling. From 1920 the Graz-Köflacher Railway and Mining Company and the Austrian Alpine Mining Company operated coal mining in Hasendorf. In the course of the 20th century, the place became a desert .

Attractions

In Hasendorf there was a small sacred monument, the tanners' cross, which was newly erected in 1870.
