Hasselsweiler

Hasselsweiler is a district of the municipality of Titz in the Düren district , North Rhine-Westphalia .

Location, general

The place is traversed by the Malefinkbach , which is mostly dried up. Hasselsweiler has around 700 inhabitants, with around a third of the inhabitants being over 60 years old. This is mainly due to the “Zur heiligen Familie” old people's home, which is located on von-Leerodt-Straße.

history

The place grew out of the two settlements Hasselt ( Hasselo ) and Weiler ( Wylre ). It was first mentioned in a document in 630 as the Lupus Chapel. The lupus chapels were intended for the reception and care of sick hikers and the distribution of alms. The district of Weiler belonged in the 15th century to Frambach von Birgel (1403–1432), the Hereditary Marshal of Jülich. During the disputes over the Geldrische inheritance (1423–44), the village was plundered and set on fire by the troops of Arnold von Egmond (1410–1473).

On July 1, 1969, Hasselsweiler was incorporated into Titz.
