Spiel is a district of the municipality of Titz in the Düren district , North Rhine-Westphalia .

Spiel is located in the Jülich Börde south of the main town of Titz. Neighboring towns are the Titzer districts of Hasselsweiler in the west, Sevenich in the southwest and Ameln in the east, and Serrest (district of the city of Jülich ) in the south.

history

The place was first mentioned in 1166. The place name is derived from parish . The surrounding towns used to be parish after Spiel, St. Gereon is the oldest parish in the area.

The player mill, a post mill north of the village , was first mentioned in 1711. In 1782 the Dahmen family had the mill repaired and partially rebuilt. In 1903 it was sold to Wilhelm Lieven's family. The property passed to Heinrich Lieven in 1928. In 1959 the mill was moved to the LVR open-air museum in Kommern , where it still stands today.
