Jackerath is a part of the municipality of Titz . It is the northernmost town in the Düren district ( North Rhine-Westphalia ).

The landscape is almost treeless and slightly wavy.
geology
In the underground there is a geological eyrie called Jackerather Horst . It connects the Erkelenzer Horst and the Villescholle and separates the Erftscholle in the south and the Venloer Graben in the north.
Loess is on the surface . The Jackerather Lössschwelle belongs to the Jülich Börde . The loess around Jackerath is up to 26 meters thick.
The North Rhine-Westphalia geological service operates an earthquake measuring station between Jackerath and Holzweiler .
location
The small village is located on the junction Jackerath the motorways A44 and A61 . To the east of Jackerath are the Garzweiler opencast mine and the Rhein-Erft district . In the north is the Rhein-Kreis Neuss , in the west begins the Heinsberg district .
The following villages and farms are located clockwise around Jackerath: in the north-west the village of Immerath (city of Erkelenz), the hamlet of Kaiskorb, the Ostenhof, the Hahnerhof and Kirchherten in the east, the hamlet of Mündt and Opherten and Titz in the south, the farmstead Huppelrath in the west.
In the north there used to be the places Garzweiler and Priesterath, in the east the town of Königshoven . They were excavated by RWE Power AG in the course of the Garzweiler I open-cast lignite mine.

Jackerath was reclassified from the municipality of Garzweiler to Titz with effect from January 1, 1972 .
Village description
Jackerath has a Catholic church dedicated to St. Mary in Sorrows . There is a sports field in the center of the village. A Raiffeisen bank is based in Jackerath . There is also a DRK kindergarten and a kindergarten for handicapped children. Jackerath used to have a post office and a rail link. The Immerath station on the Hochneukirch – Stolberg railway line was opened in 1897 between the village and Immerath . The line was shut down in 1980.

Attractions
- From the Jackerath lookout point, you can see the Garzweiler opencast mine.
- To the south of Jackerath lies the Hahnerhof with the Irmundus Chapel and the Irmundus Pond, the water of which is said to heal human and animal diseases. Thousands of pilgrims flocked to this spring for centuries.
