DRK memorial

On November 16, 1969, a Red Cross Memorial was inaugurated in Hatterwüsting. With the support of the Association for Home Care, Georg Wiemken had this "symbol of humanity" erected. It is a globe stylized by meridians on a stone base with a red cross at the top. The inscription on the stone plinth reads: “Dedicated in gratitude to the Red Cross”. Shortly before the opening, Wiemken justified the erection of this memorial with the following words: “Our Red Cross is on the globe because our thanks not only go to the German Red Cross, but also to the Red Cross around the world. This organization has always done so much good and helped that this cross is simply one of the symbols of charity. "
