Sandhatten is a district of the municipality of Hatten in the district of Oldenburg in Lower Saxony .

Geography and transport links

The cluster village is about two kilometers southeast of Kirchhatten. In the northwest, the Barnführer Holz and the Osenberg border the place. To the northwest lies the Tannersand and Gierenberg nature reserve .

The state road 871 crosses the village. A Weser-Ems bus line shuttles every hour between Sandkrug and Kirchhatten via Sandhatten.

history

Sandhatten is first mentioned in a document in 1240 as a western hathen to distinguish it from the church village of Hatten or Kirchhatten. The place name Sandhatten has been documented since 1324. The area was already settled in the Neolithic , as the 16 m long Steenberg stone grave proves. On December 31, 2015, the place had 1000 inhabitants.

Culture and activities

  • In the "artist village " Sandhatten there are several galleries and art workshops, in 2011 an art trail was laid out here.
  • There are a large number of associations, the volunteer fire brigade and other groups in the village that ensure active coexistence.
  • The Sandhatter club SV Murmel 011 hosted the German Marble Championship in 2015 . On July 22, 2017, the first team became German champions in murmuring, the second reached 3rd place.
  • In the center was a granite - Findling set found in 1996 during construction work. It has a circumference of 10.2 m and weighs around 22 tons.

Personalities

  • Else Wiegandt (1894–1985 in Sandhatten) lived and worked as an artist in Sandhatten since the mid-1940s.
