The actress Hattie Jacques lives in a house with her husband John Le Mesurier and their two sons when she meets the young chauffeur John Schofield. He is ten years younger than her. The two start an affair. Hattie still loves her husband, but Schofield offers her the passion and romance she misses in her husband.
